Springfield, TN (April 21, 2019, approximately 1:00am) The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the shooting death of John David Whitehead (DOB 02/21/1992) of Dickson, TN at a residence on Hoods Branch Road in Springfield, TN.
The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office initially responded to a call of a home intruder. Upon arrival, Deputies found John Whitehead deceased from injuries he sustained in the shooting by the homeowner, David Joshua Tucker. Investigation has revealed, John Whitehead had previously came to the house the day before on April 20th, 2019, was acting strangely, and claimed to know David Tucker and his family. The homeowner had him leave the property. Towards the early hours of April 21st, 2019, John Whitehead returned to the residence where he forced his way into the home, and was shot by David Tucker who was in fear of his and his family’s safety. John Whitehead’s family has indicated that he suffers from mental health issues. The investigation is still on-going.
The District Attorney will not be pursuing charges at this time.
