Crimes Against Children

 
The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office has a specially trained investigator that works in conjunction with the Robertson County Child Advocacy Center in order to investigate allegations of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse. This is done according to TCA code 37-1-407 in cooperation with several other professional’s from the community that is part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT). The MDT meets once a month to discuss allegations of abuse and then, as a team, form a plan of action on how to proceed. Other professionals that are part of the team consist of members from other Law Enforcement Agencies in the county, the District Attorney’s Office, Department of Children’s Services, a Forensic Interviewer, a Victim’s Advocate, Executive Director of the Child Advocacy Center, Our Kids, Juvenile Courts, and a Counselor that works out of the Child Advocacy Center.

The mission of the Robertson County Advocacy Center is to reduce the trauma of sexually and severely physically abused children and their families by facilitating a comprehensive child-focused multidisciplinary approach to prevention, detection, investigation, prosecution, and treatment of child abuse.
