
The Robertson County Detention Facility is under the command of Capt. Jerrell Jones and Supervised by Lt. Rita Heatherly. The jail was constructed in 1997 and has the capacity to hold up to 218 inmates. This facility holds pre-trial federal and state inmates as well as sentenced state inmates. There are 34 full time Sheriff's Correctional Officers assigned to the facility.
Visitation hours for male inmates are Monday-Friday from 9am-2pm and Saturday from 11am-4pm. Visitation for female inmates is Saturday only from 9am-10am. Each visit is limited to one hour and each inmate may have up to two visitors at once. Inmates may have one visit per week. Visits are by appointment only and must be scheduled by calling (615) 382-6783.

errell W. Jones was born and raised in Robertson County and attended school in the Robertson County school system. He graduated from Springfield High School in June 1971. After graduation he joined the U.S. Navy from 1971 to 1974. He was stationed aboard the U.S.S. America C.V.A. 66 with a tour of duty in Vietnam.J
Capt. Jones is married to Deborah Yates Jones, daughter of late Commissioner, James E. Yates. They have three children; Jerowyn, Gerilyn and Wayne and two grandchildren; Jerhmal, and DeAundra. They have been married for 28 years.
Jones has been employed with the Robertson County Sheriff's Office for 17 years and has been the Jail Administrator for the past 14 years. He spent 10 years with the Tennessee Department of Corrections, Nashville, TN. before returning home (Springfield) to continue his career in Penology. He has over 27 years of experience in this field of work. He attended Tennessee State University where he majored in Criminal Justice. He has also attended various training sessions and seminars at the U.S. Department of Justice National Institute of Correction which included Correctional Leadership Development, Jail Classification, and Building A New Institution, all conducted by the National Academy of Corrections. He also attended the Tennessee Correction Academy, Tennessee Correction Institute and many other related schools.
When not at work he enjoys playing chess, traveling and being involved in church activities.
